Tartar means a red compound deposited while winemaking so red indicates danger so I personally feel option B is correct.

To catch a tartar has nothing to do with teeth or tartaric acid so please stop googling meaning of tartar but look complete phrase.

To catch a tartar meaning to fight with a strong army.

Usage: while fighting with Indian army enemy realised they had caught a tartar.

Hence I believe the answer should be "D".

Tartar is an alternative spelling of Tatar. Figuratively known as A person of a keen, irritable temper.
