B is not correct because the word virtue means goodness. So acc to option he saying about mixture of good cotton but in the para it is not said anywhere.

At the starting of the 2nd paragraph we have "Corduroy's link with the good breeding and country living that made it an essential ingredient in the gentleman's wardrobe along with Wellington boots and decent wooly".

Here GOOD BREEDING means RICH & COUNTRY LIVING means POOR, so D is correct.
