I think option A is the correct answer.

The phrase to eschew the glittering prize of the 20th century implies the act of abstaining oneself from the glittering prize of the 20th century which is materialization and the phrase idyllic and rural paradise is the reward from abstaining oneself from the temptation.

If you abstain from something bad you get a reward for it. Here if you abstain yourself from the glittering prize you end up in an idyllic rural paradise.

To achieve II you must perform I.

Eschew symphony is given up so,

First statement means to be giving up the thought of the glittering prizes.

Second statement describes self-sufficiency in food clothes and simplicity of the lifestyle,

So, 2 statements are carrying opposite meanings.

I think the right answer is A because unless and until you eschew, i.e, reject the rewards you can't be self-sufficient and happy.
