I felt the wall of the tunnel shiver. The master alarm squealed through my earphones. Almost simultaneously, Jack yelled down to me that there was a warning light on. Fleeting but spectacular sights snapped into ans out of view, the snow, the shower of debris, the moon, looming close and big, the dazzling sunshine for once unfiltered by layers of air. The last twelve hours before re-entry were particular bone-chilling. During this period, I had to go up in to command module. Even after the fiery re-entry splashing down in 81o water in south pacific, we could still see our frosty breath inside the command module.

So, basically, they are asking about the "dazzling sunshine", option A could be right since heat is caused by sunlight, but in this passage, we see that thy mentioned it being snowy, snow and heat basically don't make sense together so eliminate A, then B and C are both talking about pollution and air which isn't what we are talking about here.
So, according to me, none of the options makes sense logically.

Here, The passage is about outer space.
By that sense, the astronauts were exposed to sunlight which is direct rather than the filtered manner, humans receive on Earth due to the presence of atmospheric layers.

Option D is correct.
The sentence means that the sun was shining very brightly without the atmosphere to filter it.
Option A is wrong as it just says that the sun was hot. Option B is wrong as the sentence does not talk anything about the wind. Option C is wrong as the sentence is not about air pollution. So, D is the correct answer.

As per my view, the question is asking meaning for "for once unfiltered by layers of air" which do not signifies that the sun was very hot no doubt that dazzling means hot but the phrase in quotes does not signify it hence answer is D.

The dazzling sunshine was "for once unfiltered by layers of air, ' which means there was no layer of gases (atmosphere) to cover from the direct sunlight. It does not necessarily describe the direct sun's effect, as seen in choices A, B, and C. So none of the above is the answer (D).

I think unfiltered by layers of air means there is no obstacle between them so no option is right.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
