I think after shows past participle and with past participle we always use ed form like increased.
By is generally used with year and object here increasing is present participle from is also not suite with increasing. So we used with.

B'coz "after" denotes the incident that is already ended. But "with" denotes the incident which is continuing still now. Competition is still increasing, so the "with" is correct here.
