Being extravagant is when you spend a lot on unnecessary things like long dresses and loads of clothes that are really expensive and loads of houses but being equal nominal means like when you have a small normal sized house and you’re not spending too much money on the things that you think are nice but you’re spending the right amount of money on the things that you that are very necessary for everyone life.

Let us always observe the golden rules of Concorde in supplying answers. One might be deceived into choosing cheapness because it falls into the same class of abstract nouns as extravagance. So, for economical (adjective) to be correct, then the main word should be extravagant (adjective) and not EXTRAVAGANCE (abstract noun).

Extravagance means an inclination towards spending more, wasting money.

Economical means you are always thinking of spending money more carefully, inclined more towards saving money or resources.

So in this way, these two words are different in defining the attitude of the person.
