TCS Interview Experience - 5 September, 2019

Posted By : Shobhit Dwivedi Rating : +170, -6
Hey friends, finally the day came when I am also sharing my interview experience. I am a regular user of IndiaBix and in fact I prepared myself for the interview from here only.

So, I appeared for the TNQT 2020 test on 4th august, 2019 in Gwalior, MP. The test consists of four sections - first one was English, and trust me it is very easy and the second one was aptitude and for this section I would suggest you to solve IndiaBix questions and thereafter the third section is Programming that contains 10 question mainly from C, C++ and Java but mine was only C++.

And at last there is a coding problem in which you can use one of the five languages among C, C++, Java, Python and Perl of your choice. My problem was to convert the roman number into numbers i.e. L = 50. So you guys need to practice these kind of questions and the time for this section is 35 minutes.

So this is all about the TNQT exam pattern.

I got my TNQT result on 10th August, 2019 via mail from TCS mentioning that you have cleared the test successfully and they had told to wait for the interview dates and venue.

So, after waiting for a week I got another mail that contained the interview details. My interview was on 27th August in IP University, Dwarka Sector-16C, New Delhi.

So, now take a look at my interview.

My turn came around 7.30 pm in the evening. My panel was TR+MR and if you cleared this round then only you will have the HR round.

I entered the room when the volunteer of that college announced my name.

Me : Good evening Sir and mam.  (MR was a lady).

TR+MR : Good Evening Shobhit.

TR: Give me your resume and tell us something about yourself.
Me: I handed over my resume to him and introduced myself. I had a project in my resume that was made using agile model. So I ended my answer with the line "I made a project having title "XYZ" based on agile model.

TR: Explain agile model.
Me : Explained.

TR : Have you heard the name of waterfall model? If yes, tell the differences between agile and waterfall.
Me: I told the differences.

TR : Give me two tables and asked me sql queries for retrieving all the matching and non-matching columns and one for returning the emp-id having max salary.
Me: I wrote all the queries. As I have mentioned DBMS in my resume so he asked me these questions.

(The MR was just noticing me for the first few minutes, my expressions, gestures and postures. I was looking at her also while answering all the above questions so that is why I am saying this.).

MR: Explain Polymorphism.
Me : I explained and write the code for method overloading also.

MR: Tell the differences between validation and verification.(She confused me at this question).
Me: I answered but there was a lack of confidence in my expression. But anyhow I managed and told her the right answer. The TR helped me in clearing the concept.

MR: (She switched to Hindi) Family me kon kon hai?
Me: I answered.

As I am from Bihar, so her next question was related to my place.

MR: Have you come here from Bihar just for an interview?
Me: No. I came from Gwalior.

MR: Do you have any preference regarding locations?
Me: No mam.

TR (smiling) : Can you go to Kashmir?
Me: No sir, I can't go there.

MR: Why you have less marks in your 12th board?
Me: I answered.

MR: Why do you want to join TCS?
Me: I answered.

TR+MR: Okay Shobhit, we are done wait outside.

I went outside and after 5 min. My name was announced again but this time for the HR round.

Me: Good Evening Mam.
HR: Good Evening, Can you show me your marksheets and resume?
Me: I showed her.

HR: You did an internship from Bangalore?
Me: Yes mam.

HR: Can you explain a little bit about it?
Me: I explained.

HR: Do you have any shift issues?
Me: No mam.

HR : What are your weaknesses?
Me: I answered.

HR: What do you do in your spare time?
Me: I answered.

HR: You came here from Bihar or Gwalior?
Me: Gwalior.

HR: Do you know about TCS bond policy?
Me: No mam.(She told me about the bond.).

HR: Do you have any questions to ask?
Me: Yes mam. I asked about the challenges faced by freshers and ethics of TCS.

HR: Okay Shobhit, you can leave for the day. We will contact you soon.
Me: Thank you mam.

So this is how my interview had gone. And after 8 days, on 5th september, 2019 I got a mail from TCS mentioning that you have cleared your technical discussion successfully. Your offer letter will be sent shortly.

At the end, I just want to say just mention only those things in your resume at which you are confident and be honest with the interviewers.

Good Lucks friends.
