Tata Consultancy Services Interview Experience - Kolkata
Day1: On 2nd of December I had my online aptitude test. Questions were easy for me. Almost 5 questions were from Campusgate and rest if you practise well you will get through it. Some of the question which I remember are given below.
1) Esha ran 224m in 27 sec and Usha in 17 sec. AT what distance did Esha
2) A series 1234123441234441234444 and what is the value on 200th position?
3) Star mark question: How many squares are there between
2011 to 2300 which follows 2013,2020,2027.......2300?
4) x,y,z are positive integers if x(y+z)=63, y(z+x)=40, z(y+x)=33.
What is the value of x+y+z?
5) When sum of the numbers from 9 to 33 divided by 9 the remainder is?
6) A series of book was published at seven year intervals. When the seventh book was published the total sum of publication year was 13, 524. First book was published in?
7) Assume that f(1)=0 and f(m+n)=f(m)+f(n)+4(9mn-1). For all natural
numbers (Integers>0) m and n. What is the value of f(17)?
Rest I don't remember but if you practise well you can do 17-18 questions easily. I did 22 questions out of 30 and was sure about it and none of the star questions I attempted.
Result was accounted on 7th of December and this time cut-off was very low. 14 or 15 was the cut-off. Many student cleared the aptitude round, almost 2k cleared from West Bengal zone. I made through the first round and after 3 days received mail regarding Interview.
16th December was my interview at Gitanjali park, Kolkata, reporting time was 9 AM. That they students were divided into 3 batches. Around about 1700 were called on that day.
I entered at 10 AM they took my application form and allocate a panel accordingly. I was called inside at 4PM (after 6 hours of long wait :P).
Me: Hello sir may I come in.
Int: Yes please have a seat.
Me: Thank You sir, and Good Evening.
Int: Hi X, So tell me why are you here today?
Int: *smiled* Ok, let gets started with the interview. Looked through my TCS application form and CV. So X you know Data structure?
Me: Yes sir.
Int: So can you implement a queue using linked-list?
Me: Sure sir, took the paper and started writing the code along with diagram.
Int: Ok! now explain.
Int: Satisfied. Explain global, static, dynamic, variable.
Me: Told and explained by writing code.
Int: You mention J2EE so write the code for connecting a data base.
Int: Asked question from DBMS, normalization and joins.
Int: Give me a query and asked to write suitable join.
Int: Can you explain MVC model.
Me: Sorry sir, right now I don't know about MVC model.
Int: Fine, so can you give me code for Stack implementation.
Int: Asked some more question on sorting.
After that he asked no more Technical question and started asking MR questions.
Int: Explain your project, draw the diagram, write the Entity diagram, where from you did your project etc.
Int: Why TCS?
Int: Some competitors of TCS, name top 10 Indian IT companies other basic question.
Int: Do you have any questions?
Me: Asked about the things I need to improve.
Int: Smiled and said It is all about everyday's improvement and share some advice.
I greeted him and came outside. My TR+MR was for 45 mins or more. I waited outside for next 30 min, my name was called for direct document verification. No HR for me. In document verification round 24 students were called together where our documents were verified and was told about TCS's bond, relocation, terms etc. After that we all were asked to leave for the day.
NOTE: From 1700 students on that day hardly 200-250 students managed to went till verification round.
On 24th of December I got my offer letter. Getting job is not so easy but right then its not impossible also. Hard work pays off! I got rejected from TCS, ATOS, IBM and many more companies during my On campus. I Practised hard for 4 months after College and Finally GOT PLACED.
