Tata Consultancy Services Interview Experience - Erode, September 15, 2015.
I'm sharing my interview experience with Tata Consultancy Services held at my college campus.
It was a two-day process. People with CGPA above 7.5 were asked to attend Tech + General HR together directly after completing email writing. Others wrote online aptitude test and email writing. I'm a CSE student and went for direct HR.
I was called in for the Interview. Two people were sitting in the discussion room where it was held. I went in and they were so casual and made me feel comfortable. Then one of them asked me if I have attended an Interview earlier at TCS. I told them I have been an Intern for two months. Then they asked me about my Internship experience, so and so. Later they moved in to the tech part. Questioned me which are all the languages I know. For which I replied with C, C++ and Java.
HR: How strong are you in Java? How do you rate yourself in Java out of 10?
Me: Casually, you can test me yourself sir.
HR: (Smiling) You are confident, good.
Me: Yes sir, thank you. Smiled back. (PS: They dint ask me to code in Java).
HR: Gave me a logical puzzle and asked to solve it. It was to pick the odd one out among 7 numbers (7,28,14,35,63,77,52)
Me: Solved and explained.
HR: Great! What is multi-threading?
HR: Awt class and swing class difference.
HR: Garbage Collection in Java.
HR: Smiled and told that's all from me. Over to you sir (The other one Smiled)
HR: So, what do you know about Hadoop after seeing my resume.
Me: Explained as I have attended a workshop in Big Data and Hadoop along with the tools that were used.
HR: Are you outside of Tamil Nadu?
Me: No sir,.. explaining where I am from.
HR: How long will you work in TCS?
Me: Thank you for considering me a part of TCS already. As a fresher I want to have a long term relationship with TCS. So, I don't think about leaving the job right now and about the years of my stay there. As long as the job is challenging, I'll be working.
HR: Do you prefer Higher Studies?
Me: No sir, Not at all.
HR: Thank you. Do you have any questions for us?
Me: Asked them how to outsmart people in the Industry.
HR: Explained me with their upcoming project and to learn Digital Marketing so that I can be talented to outsmart people in training.
Me: Thank you gentlemen. Pleasure meeting you. I smiled and left the room.
It was my first interview and the results were announced on the next day and I made it. So friends, be confident in what you are saying. Don't be nervous. Consider them as your friend so that you could talk freely. Moreover, they just test your confidence level. So don't freak out even if you were questioned with lots of tricky questions. All the best for your upcoming interviews. Hope this was useful:)
