TCS Interview Experience - 20th Feb, 2015 BBSR
For written test all you have to do is practice aptitude thoroughly, the crux of the written test lies here. And the best book is Arihant because most of the question were from this book only.
There were total 30 question and the time limit was 90 minutes. I had done only 16 questions and went through. But none of them were wrong.
I would suggest don't attempt questions which you are not sure because there is NEGATIVE marking.
And yes in verbal section we had email writing. The procedure for email writing was---there were 10 words given. Using those 10 words we had to write the email in 10 minutes. Make sure at the end of the email writing you submit your email by clicking submit button otherwise it will be consider as "not attempted". And you will be disqualified there only.
So this is all about written test.
My interview was on 3rd march it was held in TCS office bbsr.
It was my 2nd interview of my life. (earlier I was spurned by cognizant in interview).
There were 2 interviews. 1st one is TR+MR followed by HR.
My name was called. When I entered there were 2 panels.
1st interviewer: Good morning, have a seat.
Me: Good morning (seated).
1st: Introduce yourself.
Me: Told (but in-between my introduction he was continuously looking at my body language as he was trying to find out whether I am nervous or not).
1st: How many programs can you write?
Me: Sir 15 (confidently).
1st: Then write a program of your choice but make sure it is correct otherwise I will throw you out of this room.
Me: Sure sir, (confidently, with a big smile in my face) and wrote correctly swapping of 2 numbers without using 3rd variable.
2nd interviewer: Is it correct? (he asked me this question 3 times).
Me: Yes sir (I confidently answered all the times).
1st: Ok so do you know something about algorithm?
Me: Yes sir.
1st: Okay write an algorithm how to cook chicken? (as I had mentioned cooking as 1 of my hobbies).
Me: Sure sir (with a smile) and wrote quite easily.
1st: What is the difference between generator and an inverter? (as my branch was electrical so he asked me this question).
Me: Explained thoroughly about generator and inverter.
2nd: Make a diagram how would you connect an inverter in your house.
Me: Drew, and explained.
2nd: What is LED? Explain.
Now they switched over to MR.
1st: What are your strength?
Me: Sir my biggest strength is my determination and adaptability.
2nd: Explain both.
Me: Explained both with an example. (after listening both interviewer seemed satisfied).
1st: Where do you see yourself after 5 years?
Then both of them asked some confusing questions which I didn't able to answer.
1st: Okay any question for us?
Me: Sir what are the subjects one need to be strong before joining a software company?
1st: Dbms, programming. Etc and also you need to be strong in your communication skills.
Me: Thank you you sir (with a smile).
And here my TR+MR round completed.
After 10 minutes I was called for HR round.
Interviewer: Introduce yourself.
Me: Gave my introduction.
Interviewer: Why your marks are so poor in 10th?
Me: Sir at that time I was concentrating more on cricket but unfortunately I didn't get any scope at that time and had to quit cricket,
Interviewer: So why are you choosing software company though you are from electrical background?
Interviewer: So how many girlfriends do you have?
Me: No sir unfortunately I don't have any gf (with a big smile).
Interviewer: Okay thank you then (with a big smile).
Me: Thank you sir.
I got my offer letter on 27th march and that was happiest day of my life.
HOPE IT WILL BE HELPFUL FOR YOU ALL.
