Tata Consultancy Services Interview Experience - Pune, 9th March, 2015

Posted By : Shikha Rating : +85, -4
Hello all,

I gave my written test on 2nd march 2015 for TCS and the result for the same was declared on 4th march on our campus commune portal. It was my second attempt for TCS. In my first attempt, I took it very lightly and did not even cared to study for it. Obviously I could not even crack a single question as far as I remember. So this time I read many interview experience of previous candidates posted on IndiaBix. And I have to say it really helped a lot.

Maximum candidates mentioned about referring to educational websites like:
prepare Time, work, speed and Distance, permutations, probability, number systems well and for sure.

I studied from only these websites and practiced for 2 days for my written test. On 4th march (2 days after written exam), it was declared that I have cleared the written and was called for interview in 9th march. Actually, its a very long day for completing all the interviews of shortlisted candidates, but luckily, my turn came in 10 minutes after the TR started. There were two persons in my panel. They asked me to sit and asked me to give my intro (expected).

1) Questions were asked on my project in detail. I had to draw the circuit diagram and they asked me about all the components and my role in the project. PREPARE YOUR PROJECT WELL. Speak confidently. They might not be knowing your project. I even forgot the name of an IC used in my project but I created a name of my own for the IC and told them confidently that name.

2) TR: What are datatypes?

3) TR: Why you want to come to IT sector despite being from an ECE background.
Ans: I told them that I believe in putting my sincere effort in any thing that is given to me. That's what I did for my subjects in ECE and scored  >75%, rather than for the sake of completing it.

4) TR: Write a syntax for any C program command.

Ans: I told the the simplest one for declaring and initializing a variable.

5) TR: What did you learn in your Industrial Training and how do you compare to with things learnt in College?

Ans: I told them, I did training from NTPC at my hometown as it was convenient and how the plant worked. Things learned in college are mostly memorized for exams and poured over the answer sheets, but in training we got to know how industry works practically and were shown all the electronics devices in hand and in detail and we are able to remember it for long and understand more than college studies.

Then he asked me to leave and thanked me. I also thanked them back.

After 1\2 hour, I was told that I cleared TR and MR (shocked). They told me that in some panels both TR and MR are taken simultaneously. After 5 minutes, I was called for HR.

He asked me to sit and show me my original documents and if there was any gap and my education. They were very strict about any gap in education and each one going for HR or MR was enquirer and checked for this before thru our original documents.

How long you can work for TCS?

Can you join before 31st march if selected?

Have you done any other course for software field apart from that of your college subjects?
At last he told me to sign a declaration form that if I get selected I would have to join before or on 31st march 2015 and the final results will be mailed to you in a week.

That was all guys. Hope it works for you.

Now I'm just waiting for the results and hope for the best.

Thank you.
