Tata Consultancy Services Interview Experience - Cochin, 12th March 2014

I attended the off campus placement conducted by TCS during the year 2013-2014. More than 1 lakh students applied for it. We had two levels of selection process, where first round was the online test and interview level as the second.

I got my test center about 60 km away from my home. Actually it was some sort of pleasure trip for me and my friends. We had to report there 1 hr before exam starts but we reached there at just 5 minute before exam. I gave all my certificate to invigilator for verification purpose and started to attend the exam without reading the instruction. Online test had two parts.

1) Verbal ability test: where we have to compose an email based the topic given and we must include all the given words in that mail. We have to complete that section within 10 minute. I was damn sure that I can't write it without any grammatical, spelling or any sort of mistakes as I am not much good in English. Still I completed that mail somehow.

2) Analytical and Logical reasoning: I got answer for about 17 question even if exam was kind tough, because that was my 15th test. :P. I guessed answer for all other question.

When I came out of the hall only I got to know that there was -ve marking. I was so happy because most of my friends also got to know about it after exams only. After exam we went to nearby beach and had so much fun.

After 1 week result were announced and fortunately my name was there in the list.

Only 8 from our class cleared the first round and we went for the interview process in the next week. Me and my fired was in our college uniform and all others who came there was in formals.  (note: wear anything in which you are comfortable :P No one cares).

There was certificate verification process and after that we went for our technical interview. There was two officer and one was doing something in his laptop and the second guy asked me some simple questions from java, and asked me to write one simple code. I cleared that round of interview and went for HR interview, which I hate most. Fortunately there was no MR interview for CS students. Many candidates got rejected in that level. In HR round they asked me all the usual HR kind of questions and checked my certificates. From there face itself I could read out they were not interested in selecting me. After the interview they gave chance to clarify our doubts, I asked 2 questions just for the name sake.

After I finished HR round I got to know that for all others they asked questions like "are you willing to relocate? Are you ready to sign 2 year bond?". S o I lost all my hope and went back to home. Interview process took only 3 hours only.

We didn't get any updates from TCS for the next 2 weeks, and our placement sir told me that results are already published. So all of we forget about TCS and tried to search for another job. Exactly after 21 days, when I was downloading my interview call letter for another company I got my OFFER LETTER FROM TCS. :).

SO guys just be confident, even if you are not good in English, don't worry be smart and good in basics of programming languages.
