I am Sameer, a student of CSE Stream from Asansol Engineering College 2010-14 batch.

Student from CSE and IT background do not stick the boundary of your knowledge to C and Java only. Have special commands on DBMS, OS, networking, internet technology.

TCS maintained the selection procedure at the month of october 2013.

This Year TCS altered the selection procedure as TCS added the verbal ability section along with the quantitative aptitude section.

Round 1: Verbal ability.
Round 2: Quantitative aptitude.
Round 3: Technical Interview.
Round 4: HR interview.

[Verbal ability is qualifying round which implies that if the student donot qualifies in verbal ability section then the paper for quantitative aptitude would not be manipulated and checked].

Round 1: Verbal ability (10 mins):

This section comprised several phrases and we had to prepare email for boss of office.

The Round is not so tough for the student who posses good to average command in English communication.

Note: The verbal ability section was conducted on computer system so student must make serious preparation with proper time maintenance.

Round 2: Quantitative aptitude:

Make preparation from RS agarwal, Arun sharma and pay special attention to m4maths as there were many questions in round which were similar as in m4maths but with different datas.

[Around 70 from CS, 79 from EC, 50 from IT, 20 from ME, 10 from EE qualified the aptitude round from our college].

Round 3: Technical Interview:

I got the panel of 2 interviewers.

Me: May I come in sir?

Interviewers: Come in.

Int 1: Tell me about yourself?

Me: Explained.

Int 1: Why should we hire you?

Me: Explained.

Int 1: What do you know about TCS?

Me: Explained.

Int 1: Tell me your strength and weakness.

Me: Explained.

I had mentioned typing speed as one of my skill in CV.

Note: Always try to mention only those skills for which you can defend yourself.


Int 1: How do you think typing speed would help you in TCS organization?

Me: Explained.

Int 2: Tell me about areas of interest.

Me: C, java, OS, DBMS, DS.

Int 2: Explain memory allocation functions?

Me: Explained.

Int 2: Explain process scheduling and what is the use of gantt chart?

Me: Explained.

Int 2: Explain prefix and postfix in C with example.

Me: Explained.

Int 2: Have you done summer projects? what was your topic?

Me: Yes sir on DBMS with oracle 10g.

Int 2: What do you mean by trigger?

Me: Explained.

Int 2: Have you applied trigger in your projects?

Me: Explained.

Int 2: What are the usage of trigger?

Me: Explained.

Int 2: Can you lock database with usage of trigger?

Me: Explained.

Int 2: Explain difference between procedure and function.

Me: Explained.

Int 2: Do you think normalization plays any role in DBMS?

Me: Explained.

Int 2: Haven't you worked for front end?

Me: No sir but I can do it.

Int 2: With use of java or by any else method?

Me: Sir I have done training on ASP.NET so I can prepare window application using ASP.NET windows application.

Int2: Nice!

Int1 &int2: Rank your interview on your basis?

Me: Sir 8 out of 10.

Int1 : Why not 10 are you not sure?

Me: Sir I have deducted 2 for HR interview as technical interview provides binary results and I m sure about my technical interview but for HR it is something like analog. Thats why.

Int1 and int2: By laughing, . Nice !

Int1: Any more question from your side?

Me: How could I get to work in Research and development section of TCS?

[Note: Always try to ask questions that shows your dedication and interest towards the company].

Interviewers: Explained.

Round 4: HR interview.

Me: May I come in sir?

Int: Come in.

[My interviewer was little bit Strict but don't be panic I think that my 85% probability for selection is based on round 3 only].

Int: Introduce yourself.

Me: Explained.

Int: What is your father's and mother's occupation.

Me: Sir my father is servicemen and my mother is housewife.

Int: If you get placed in puducherry then how your parents would cooperate with your job?

Me: Sir my father is left with 2-3 years of his job from retirement and as my mother is housewife so they will shift with me to my job area.

Int: Will you face any problem with relocation?

Me: No sir.

[be sure always try to show that your job is first to you].

Int: From where you belongs?

Me: From patna, bihar.

Int: You completing your study from Asansol, West bengal this means that you don't have any problem from relocation. [by smiling].

Me: Yes sir.

Int: Tell me about your hobbies.

Me: Playing computer games, watching movies.

Int: What games you have played.

Me: Explained.

Int: Have you ever heard about EA?what does it stands for. Name some game of EA.

Me: Explained.

Int: Nice. Ok what else left. ? what do you think you are selected?ok you can leave. Wait for result and hope for best.

Me: Thank you!

[it was about 2 am results announced and finally I'm part of TCS].
