TCS PATTERN & INTERVIEW - 16 JUL 2008
I am pursuing B Tech in DA-IICT. We had TCS on our campus on 16th july.
TCS Technical Test
Duration: 90 mins
it was an online test.
1st section was verbal
-fill in the blanks from the options in a paragrah
2nd section was quant
-there were around 35 questions
-they were general maths questions like simple interest, time and work, standard deviation, questions based on basic properties of cubes, triangles.Percentage-
if u are above average in maths u shud have no problems in completing this section.
-at the end there were two venn diagrams questions - they were simple
3rd section was critical reasoning
-this was the section because of which half the students couldnt qualify.
-it was tough
there were 3 questions- i could do all 3
one of them was pretty simple-there were 6 men and each could speak 2 languages, we had to mark that who all needed an interpreter and who didnt
- on was that type all G and H are J.All J are K etc..if u read the question carefully and practice few beforehand, u wont have a problem
- third was also similar A,b,C....E are Q,I is H etc etc..
i cleared the test
many of my friends said that the paper was from barrons 12th edition though I hadnt had a look at it.
the we had Technical Interview the following morning. I had to wait for almost 6 hrs before my chance came. initially the interviewers asked me 5 very tough questions which I COULDNT answer like what is serializable, what is radix sort, what is tag interface... then they started laughing and asked me some normal questions like
1. what is inheritance
2. what is multiple and multilevel inheritance
3 what is a package
4 why doesnt Java support multiple inheritance
5 then they asked DFS BFS, linear search and some sorting algos.
I answered all and cleared then we had HR
the HR were asking technical questions so I was a bit tensed but luckily they didn ask me any technical questions,
thy asked lil bit about my family and stuff, nothing really to be prepared
I had worked as an intern in TCS so some part was spent in discussing the project i worked on. then they asked me the difference between JSP and Servlets, i Answered. then the HR asked what according to you is the biggest threat to India currently, I said inflation, he asked why. I explained that it hurts the common man and stuff. the i also mentioned terrorism
then the other hr staretd asking a lot of GK questions
1. who won the Euro cup against whom
2. who won wimbledon
3. what is the political scene in India
4. what is ur idea on the nuclear deal
5. what is G8 summit
As I read the newspaper regularly I could answr all the questions!
Though I should warn u that in TCS interviews many students were asked HR questions in technical round and technical question in HR round when they were not mentally prepared. I got selected.
186 for technical interview out of around 290
99 for HR interview
