In each step, one line segment is lost from the CW-end of the outer element and a new line segment appears at the ACW-end. Also, the inner 'L' shaped element rotates 90oCW in each step.

Here CW is clockwise and ACW is anti-clockwise, so if we see from figure A to B, one spike is removed from CW end and one spike is added in ACW end. And the "L" Shape in the middle in figure A is rotated 90 degrees which you can see in figure B.
Again this whole process is repeated from figure B to C and so on.
Try to draw the figures. You will surely get it. Hope it helps you.
