Non Verbal Reasoning - Series - Discussion
Discussion Forum : Series - Section 1 (Q.No. 2)
Directions to Solve
Each of the following questions consists of five figures marked A, B, C, D and E called the Problem Figures followed by five other figures marked 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 called the Answer Figures. Select a figure from amongst the Answer Figures which will continue the same series as established by the five Problem Figures.
2.

Each question in the topic of Non- Verbal Reasoning is a unique one. We have to look keenly and find a simple relation in the question. For this problem just look in the figure (A) and compare it with figure (B). The 'Question mark'(?)gets moved to upper right top. Similarly in the next figures too. Thus the symbol in the center will move up to top left corner in next step. So from figure (E) the next step is option 2,since the center square got moved to the top left position in option 2.

A lot of good explanations. @Pradeep, you're explanation seems to be the most straightforward. To make it even more clear, I have a small addition so people may understand in better:
The middle = 0 Upper left corner = 1 Upper right corner = 2.
Lower left corner = 4 Lower right corner = 3.
The middle = 0 Upper left corner = 1 Upper right corner = 2.
Lower left corner = 4 Lower right corner = 3.

Just number each end of the square and see which values moves where. Like 4 ends named 1, 2, 3, 4 and center is 0. See where 0 moves to then 1 and so on. Just number it in the second last relation and follow it yourself for the final answer.

Start marking 0-center & from upper left corner 1-2-3-4.
For ?- 0 1 2 4 3 is position.
For square- 1 2 4 3 0.
For triangle- 2 4 3 0 1.
For = - 3 0 1 2 4.
For *- 4 3 0 1 2.
In this series next pattern will be option B.
For ?- 0 1 2 4 3 is position.
For square- 1 2 4 3 0.
For triangle- 2 4 3 0 1.
For = - 3 0 1 2 4.
For *- 4 3 0 1 2.
In this series next pattern will be option B.

See only the upper two corners.
The left upper corner element takes place at the right upper corner in each upcoming box.
All elements change place in the same sequence as the first box changes to 2nd box.

@ALL.
Just look at the bottom right of the A then the middle of B then left top of C image, making a slant line of =. Same for BCD making slant x. Same for CDE making and DE. So. B.

Just catch one figure like a square or triangle and when you look at all the figures, the square or the triangle have been in all positions. So the sequence starts again.

The LHS of figure1 is the RHS of figure 2. SImilarly, LHS of figure3 is same as RHS of figure4. So, from 5th figure, its LHS will be same as the figure in option2.
