Answer: Option
Explanation:

The figure may be labelled as shown.

The simplest squares are ABGF, BCHG, CDIH, DEJI, FGLK, GHML, HINM, IJON, KLQP, LMRQ, MNSR, NOTS, PQVU, QRWV, RSXW and STYX i.e. 16 in number.

The squares composed of four components each are ACMK, BDNL, CEOM, FHRP, GISQ, HJTR, KMWU, LNXV and MOYW i.e. 9 in number.

The squares composed of nine components each are ADSP, BETQ, FIXU and GJYV i.e. 4 in number.

There is one square AEYU composed of sixteen components.

There are 16 + 9 + 4 + 1 = 30 squares in the given figure.

If the square is made of 4X4 squares, then to find out the no. of squares, you can use the formula square of 1 + square of 2 + square of 3 + square of 4 = 30. For 3X3 square it would be square of 1 + square of 2 + square of 3 and so on. To find out no.of quadrilaterals in the same image, you can use cube of 1 + cube of 2 + cube of 3 + cube of 4.

Use the equation n(n+1)(2n+1)/6, where n=4 here.
