Find the number of triangles in the given figure.

Explanation:
The figure may be labelled as shown.
The simplest triangles are AGH, GFO, LFO, DJK, EKP, PEL and IMN i.e. 7 in number.
The triangles having two components each are GFL, KEL, AMO, NDP, BHN, CMJ, NEJ and HFM i.e. 8 in number.
The triangles having three components each are IOE, IFP, BIF and CEI i.e. 4 in number.
The triangles having four components each are ANE and DMF i.e. 2 in number.
The triangles having five components each are FCK, BGE and ADL i.e. 3 in number.
The triangles having six components each are BPF, COE, DHF and AJE i.e. 4 in number.
Total number of triangles in the figure = 7 + 8 + 4 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 28.

This method is a bit time-taking but cont. Practice will make you perfect!
Name all the points, for eg. Point A point B etc. And start counting no. Of triangles originatin from the points named.
When you have counted all the tri. Originating from all the points, eliminate the same triangles.
The remaining is the answer.

@Azhar.
Here the no.of inner nodes are 10, whereas the total no.of nodes are 16 as you said. You just count you can come 2 know the inner nodes where and all 2 or 3 lines are joining that will become your inner node.

I'm not getting the answer as 28 if we apply that formula. I'm getting it's 26.

TotalNumbers Of Nodes = 16 (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P).
And Inner Nodes = 6 (M, N, O, P,I,L)
So Formula = Total no of Nodes + 2 * (Inner Nodes).
= 16 + 2 * 6,
= 28 Answer.

The formula works: the total no. of nodes + 2*(no. of inner nodes).
16 + 2 * 6 = 28.
Inner Nodes means the nodes, not on the outline of the diagram.

For these type of questions the only way of shortcut is. Practice. Don't depend on any other shortcuts. Those might be correct only for few sums.

If you take number of straight line in this figure i.e. 7,
Each line is used to make 4 triangle so total triangle will be 7*4 = 28.

Then count inner nodes IHMNJGOLPK is 10.
