Networking - EIGRP and OSPF - Discussion
Discussion Forum : EIGRP and OSPF - EIGRP and OSPF (Q.No. 1)
1.
With which network type will OSPF establish router adjacencies but not perform the DR/BDR election process?
Answer: Option
Explanation:
No DR is assigned on any type of point-to-point link. No DR/BDR is assigned on the NBMA point-to-multipoint due to the hub/spoke topology. DR and BDR are elected on broadcast and non-broadcast multi-access networks. Frame Relay is a non-broadcast multi-access (NBMA) network by default.

OSPF is a dynamic routing protocol. OSPF can elect one router as DR (Designated Router) and one router as BDR (Backup Designated Router). If DR fails BDR takes over.
Each non-BDR or non-DR router in the network exchange routing information with DR or BDR.
To send information to DR or BDR multicast IP of 224.0.0.6 is used DR sends routing information with multicast IP of 224.0.0.5.
