A virus contains a nucleus because it's a cell. Therefore, every cell contains genes as we all know. There are two types of genes: the Ribonucleic acid and the Deoxyribonucleic acid, so genome means, genetic makeup of a cell.

The nucleolus contain the genome (genetic make up) and the capsid is the protein envelope that cover the nucleus. So the combination of nucleolus and capsid is called nucleocapsid.
