Coagulase reactive factor is necessary for the tube coagulase test which detects free coagulase.
Since the free coagulase is cell wall liberated, it forms a bond with the plasma and forms thrombin after going through a series of reactions, this then catalyses fibrinogen to soluble fibrin to form a clot.
