Eosinophils kill a variety of helminth parasites and some protozoan parasites in vitro by antibody- or complement-dependent mechanisms.

Nevertheless, direct evidence of in vivo parasite killing by eosinophils is scanty.

When the patient is unwell due to bacteria or parasites pathologically we find the count of eosinophil increased that is direct evidence stamping it as eosinophilia.

Eosinophils are less commonly acidophils (white blood cells) component of immune system used for combating parasites such asv helminthes.
