Flat chisel = flat surfaces.
Crosscut/Cape chisel = Keyways, grooves and slots
Diamond chisel = Squaring corner and joint, V-shaped grooves.

Diamond pointed is typical modified parabolic shape which gives greater resistance during cutting we corner groove.
