The correct answer is: compound die.
A compound die is a type of die that allows for multiple cutting and forming operations to be performed in a single operation. It combines two or more separate operations, such as blanking, piercing, and forming, into a single die.
In a compound die;
- Multiple operations are performed simultaneously.
- The die is designed to perform all operations in a single stroke.
- The workpiece is processed in a single operation, reducing production time and increasing efficiency.
Here's why the other options are incorrect;
- Simple die: A simple die performs only one operation, such as blanking or piercing.
- Progressive die: A progressive die performs multiple operations in a sequence, but each operation is performed in a separate station, and the workpiece is moved from station to station.
- Combination die: A combination die is similar to a compound die but performs two or more operations in a sequence, not simultaneously.
So, Compound dies are often used in high-volume production applications, such as stamping automotive parts, where efficiency and speed are critical.

Option D is right. Because combination die is used for cutting and non-cutting operation. Forming is non-cutting operation.

In a combination die both cutting & non-cutting operations are performed there.
