Investment casting used for precision casting. Eg. Gear of watch etc. In this method, pattern makes by wax. When filler material fills in the mould, wax vapourised in the atmosphere. So it's called investment casting.

In investment casting the pattern is made by wax or plastic material. When the material is poured into the mould and taken shape of a pattern than mould is heated and the pattern is melted down and the component is ready to take.
