The Answer is correct.
Cut off ratio is inversely proportional to efficiency. And when it become zero efficiencies of diesel engine equal to that of a petrol engine.

The answer should be 1. Because cut off is zero and cut off ratio is 1.

Right answer is Option D, because cutt-off ratio equal to 1 put in equation then the efficiency of Diesel cycle approaches to Otto cycle efficiency.

Cut off ratio is the ratio of cylinder volumes after and before the combustion process. So, obviously, the ratio should be greater than zero.
When the cut-off ratio is 1 the efficiency of diesel cycle approaches to that of otyo cycle.
When the cut-off ratio is 1 the efficiency of diesel cycle approaches to that of otyo cycle.

It can be only approx result because a gamma (1.4) term will be there.
