Transfer of mass only take for flow process (i.e., open system).

In the flow process mass is flow in and out of the system.

Because steady state energy equation is true for flow process.

Open systems are the one where exchange of mass and energy takes place i.e. flow process.

Heat is a form of flowing motion.

Yes it is a flow process because mass is transferring in & out of the system, if the amount of mass entering the system is equal to the amount of mass leaving the system then it is called as steady state flow process.

Mass transfer in only open system & leaving also because it is done by steady flow energy equation & steady flow i.e. Time will be constant during mass transferring.
