The development of completely indigenized Axle Boxes and bearings for the high speed Rajdhani Locomotive, and the Yugoslavian and Egyptian Railway wagons are the highlights of the design capabilities at NBC. Cylindrical roller bearings are used mainly in Locomotives (Diesel or Electric) for Wagons wheel application.

It is heavy-duty bearing, it can carry heavy load without destroy.

Cylindrical roller bearing is the right answer.

Exactly right @Neeraj.

I worked in NBC that make axle box.

It should be a cylindrical roller bearing.

Self-aligning Spherical roller bearings are used in Meter Gauge, Broad Gauge and EMU Passenger coach wheel application. These bearings are used with axle box housing and end fittings.

Cylindrical roller bearings are also used as Traction Motor armature bearings in Rail Locomotives. They are used in pairs and are both riveted and rivet-less.

Most spherical roller bearings are designed with two rows of rollers, allowing them to take very heavy radial loads and heavy axial loads.
