When two links of a kinematic pair are not held together mechanically but remain in contact with each other under the action of the force of gravity or some spring action, then such a pair is called an open pair. EG. cam and follower as shown in the figure are in contact due to the force of gravity and the forces exerted by the spring.

Closed pair is the Answer.

When two links of a kinetic pair are held together mechanically, in such a manner that only the required type of relative motion occurs, they are called closed pair. All lower pairs and some higher pairs are closed pairs. Example: enclosed cam and follower makes a closed pair.

Yes, ofcourse, Cam and follower is an open pair, because it is not held mechanically. And why it is closed pair.

In the above question, the correct answer is d i.e. Closed Pair not a correct answer A.

i.e.ball and socket joint is a spherical pair.

(a) Ball and Socket is an example of Spherical pair.

(b) Journal bearing is an example of Rolling pair.

(c) Lead screw and nut is an example of Screw pair/ Helical Pair.

(d) Cam and follower is an example of the Open pair.

Correct and is can and follower, because open pair is also called as force closed pair which means two links of pair held together mechanically means of spring or any external force, eg. Can and follower in Ic Engine.

Open pair is aka forced closed together and they are not held together. These all questions are from rajput and there have been a lots of mistake. So answer is D.

Yes, cam and follower is crt, 2 reasons one not held mechanically so not a surface contact there is only a point contact cam is correct for any way.

Open pair is forced closed pair and all forced closed pair is example of higher pair and that for cam and follower is open pair.

As per my knowledge, cam and follower may both type of pair i.e. open and closure pain.
