Short Column: 0< Le / r < 60.
Intermediate Column: 60< Le / r <120.
Long Column: 120< Le / r < 300.
Intermediate Column: 60< Le / r <120.
Long Column: 120< Le / r < 300.

Le/r is called slenderness ratio. If it is > 120 it is called long beam. But mostly > 100 is preferred as long beam.

Slenderness ratio for long column:- More than 120.
Slenderness ratio for Medium column:- Slenderness ratio lies between 32 to 120.
Slenderness ratio for short column:- Less than 32.
Slenderness ratio for Medium column:- Slenderness ratio lies between 32 to 120.
Slenderness ratio for short column:- Less than 32.

Slenderness Ratio Below 32 is Short Column.
Slenderness Ratio From 32 to 100 is Medium Column.
Slenderness Ratio Above 100 is Long Column.
Slenderness Ratio From 32 to 100 is Medium Column.

For steel if slenderness ratio > 80 then it is long column and then only Eulers formula can be applied. If slenderness ratio < 80 it is short column and Eulers formula can't be applied.
