Maximum pressure used for steam generation is around 220 bar (i.e 22Mpa) and the thin vessels can be used to handle the pressure of 32Mpa.

So thin vessels are used as steam drums.

Thin is used because it with stand at High pressure like super critical boiler, in thin cylinder more uniform stress distribution compare thick.
