In a simple bending theory, one of the assumption is that the plane sections before bending remain plane after bending. This assumption means that
stress is uniform throughout the beam
strain is uniform throughout the beam
stress is proportional to the distance from the neutral axis
strain is proportional to the distance from the neutral axis
Answer: Option

Stress is not constant through out the beam. But the strain is uniform, so option D is correct.

Can anyone explain it?

Bending stress is linear and strain is linear but he gave only stress that's why option D is correct.

Stress in the neutral axis is zero but no change in neutral axis and this assumption only valid for neutral axis.

But according to simple bending equation stress (6) is proportional to y.
