A is correct if minor principal stress(σ2) is -ve.
For example solve;
σ-X=40MPa,
σ-Y= 60MPa,
The shear stress (xy)=50.
Then you will get A as correct.
For example solve;
σ-X=40MPa,
σ-Y= 60MPa,
The shear stress (xy)=50.
Then you will get A as correct.
