Close or dense structure - lower proportion (1 to 8) and it used to finishing cut, hard and brittle materials.
Close or open structure - higher proportion (9 to 15) and it used to heavy cut, soft, tough & ductile materials.

Remember 1 is the densest one and 16 is the least dense.
