CUTTING TOOL consists of main 4 parts, SHANK, FLANK, FACE, NOSE.

SHANK: It is the main body of the cutting tool which is gripped into the tool holder.

FLANK: It is the surface adjacent to, and below the cutting edge when tool lies in a horizontal position.

FACE: It is the top surface of the tool over which chip will flow.

NOSE: It is the tip of the cutting tool. It formed by the intersection of side cutting edge and end cutting edge. Nose radius ranges from 0.4 to 1.6 mm.
