High-speed steels 0.08-0.2.
Cast alloys 0.1-0.15.
Carbides 0.2-0.5.
Coated carbides 0.4-0.6.
Ceramics 0.5-0.7.

Values of Exponent n.

High-Speed steels 0.08 – 0.20.
Cast Alloys 0.10 – 0.15,
Carbides 0.20 – 0.50,
Coated carbides 0.40 – 0.60,
Ceramics 0.50 – 0.70.

For h.c steels n = 0.05-0.1.
n = 0.1-.2 for h.s.s.
n = 0.2-0.4 for carbides.
n = 0.4-0.6 for ceramics.
n = 0.7-0.9 for diamonds.

Taylor's tool life equation.

VTn= c.
V= velocity a tool.
T= tool life.
C= machining constant.
N= tool life in the exponent.
