Side rake angle of a single point cutting tool is the angle
by which the face of the tool is inclined towards back
by which the face of the tool is inclined sideways
between the surface of the flank immediately below the point and a plane at right angles to the centre line of the point of the tool
between the surface of the flank immediately below the point and a line drawn from the point perpendicular to the base

1. Positive rake angle implies the sum of the clearance angle and wedge angle is less than 90°.

2. Negative rake offers a strong tooltip, which makes the tool more resilient under impact loading.

3. Zero rake angle is in between the positive and negative rake angles. It can provide advantages of both of them; however, to some extent. Cutting tool with zero rake angle is easy to design and manufacture. Such tools also provide advantage while re-sharpening the tools. Thread cutting tools are usually provided with zero rake angle.

Side rake angle - It is the angle by which the face of the tool is inclined to side ways. This angle of tool determines the thickness of the tool behind the cutting edge.

This tool is to provide clearance between the work piece and tool, so as to prevent the rubbing of work- piece with end flake of tool. It is the angle between the surface the flank immediately below the point and the line down from the point perpendicular to the base.

If viewed behind the tool down the length of the tool holder, it is the angle formed by the face of the tool and the center line of the workpiece. A positive side rake angle tilts the tool face down toward the floor, and a negative angle tilts the face-up and toward the workpiece.

Describing the angle of the cutting face relative to the work. There are two rake angles, namely the back rake angle and side rake angle, both of which help to guide chip flow. There are three types of rake angles: positive, negative, and zero.

It is defined as the angle between the face of the tool and a line parallel to the base of the shank in a plane parallel to the side cutting edge.

No, The right answer is the angle between rake face and reference plane measured in longitudinal feed direction.
