The centre distance is sum of pitch circle radii of both mating gears.
i e (r + R),
Also wkt Base circle radius Rb = R cos (π).
Therefore R = Rb/cos (π).
And the sum of R = Sum of Rb/cos (π).

Answer is not C, because centre distance between gears is equal to SUM OF PITCH CIRCLE RADII or SUM OF BASE CIRCLE RADII/COS.
