In zero film bearings thin layer of lubricant is available (like oil polished) this is sufficient to reduce the friction between bearing and shaft. As the film layer very thin hence it known as zero film.

There is a gap of nano distance between the bearing and the surface. Lubrication is necessary.

Lubricant is neccessory in bearings, but contact between shaft and bearing by lubricant for power transmission is not under zero film.
