Propeller shafts are transmission shaft. If you are confused regarding automobile and crankshaft will be machine shaft because transmission be not be from shaft to shaft.

Crankshaft is connected to piston, piston rotates the crankshaft, so they do not transmit the power.

It will be machine shaft because it convert reciprocating motion to rotatory motion.
