In order to obtain the bolts of uniform strength, an axial hole is drilled through the head as far as the threaded portion such that the area of shank becomes equal to the root area of the thread.

For uniform distribution of impact energy holes are drilled. This increases the strength of the bolt.

To get uniform strength in bolt hole is drilled in the head or the shank diameter is reduced to the root diameter then the bolt get uniform strength.
