The spindle of bench vices are usually provided with buttress thread. Buttress thread is the combination of square thread and v threads.

Don't get confuse guys, its both buttress and acme used in bench vices. Books are making us puzzled by providing different answers.

Buttress thread is found in to the spindle of bench vice but commony in other vice square thread is found in to the spindle.
