The correct answer is: spigot and socket joint.
The spigot and socket joint is a type of pipe joint that is commonly used for pipes carrying water at low pressures. This joint consists of a spigot (a short length of pipe with a tapered end) that fits into a socket (a recessed area in another pipe or fitting). The joint is sealed with a ring or gasket and is often used for pipes with diameters up to 2 inches (50 mm).
The spigot and socket joint is well-suited for low-pressure applications because it:
- Provides a secure and watertight seal
- Is easy to assemble and disassemble
- Can be used with a variety of pipe materials, including cast iron, ductile iron, and PVC
The other options are not the most commonly used joints for low-pressure water pipes:
- Socket joint: This term is sometimes used to describe the spigot and socket joint, but it's not a distinct type of joint.
- Nipple joint: A nipple is a short length of pipe used to connect two fittings or pipes. It's not typically used as a joint for carrying water at low pressures.
- Union joint: A union is a type of fitting that connects two pipes, but it's not typically used for low-pressure water pipes.
Spigot and socket joints are commonly used in applications like:
- Water supply lines
- Drainage pipes
- Irrigation systems
- Fire protection systems

Socket or coupler joint is used where the overall smallness of size is most economical and for high pressure steam expansion joint is used. In these case hydraulic pipes joint has oval flanges and are fastened by means of two bolts.

Here, the water is passing at low pressure, therefore socket joint is used. Nipple joint is used to join pipes for fluid flow at high pressure.

Socket joint is spherical joint.
Nipple joint is correct. Because nipple is a short piece of threaded pipe which can fit two pipes.

Socket for low-pressure carrying Nipple =reduce area.
Socket, spigot=under earth.

It should be Nipple joint.
