It is simple to understand. Thanks @Yasir sir.

The design of a pressure vessels is on the basis of Hoop Stress. So,

Hoop Stress = pd/2t, convert diameter into mm because all other units are in mm and then solve you will get 25 mm.

1*1000/2*20 = 25 mm.

Here d is in m so convert it into 1000mm.

Then 1000/(2*20)=25mm.

Can anyone explain this to me clearly?

@Noman Ahmad Khan.

It's 1000 not 100.

Pd/2t.

Then 1 * 100/2 * 20 = 25.

Longitudinal stress = pd/4t.

Formula for hoop stress = pd/2t.
