The correct answer is: product layout.
Product layout, also known as assembly line layout, is a type of layout that is preferred to avoid excessive multiplication of facilities. In this layout, machines and equipment are arranged in a sequence that follows the production process, and the product moves through the sequence, with each operation being performed in a specific location.
This layout is preferred because it:
- Reduces duplication of facilities
- Minimizes material handling costs
- Improves efficiency and productivity
- Simplifies production planning and control
The other options are not correct because;
- Process layout: Arrange machines and equipment according to the function or process, which can lead to excessive multiplication of facilities.
- Group layout: A hybrid layout that groups similar machines or processes, but may not necessarily reduce duplication of facilities.
- Static layout: A layout where machines and equipment are fixed in place, and the product remains stationary, which is not relevant to avoiding excessive multiplication of facilities.
=>Product layout is commonly used in mass production, assembly lines, and continuous processing industries, where efficiency and productivity are critical.

@ Akash ji, I also think so.

The answer should be product layout. Because in product layout number of m/cs required are fixed for the completion of the job and is arranged according to the requirements of the product unlike in process layout.
