STP - Standard Temperature and Pressure - is defined as air at 0°C (273.15 K, 32°F) and 1 atm (101.325 kN/m2, 101.325 kPa, 14.7 psia, 0 psig, 29.92 in Hg, 760 torr, 33.95 Ft.H2O, 407.2 In.W.G, 2116.8 Lbs./Sq.Ft.).

NTP - Normal Temperature and Pressure - is defined as air at 20°C (293.15 K, 68°F) and 1 atm ( 101.325 kN/m2, 101.325 kPa, 14.7 psia, 0 psig, 29.92 in Hg, 760 torr). Density 1.204 kg/m3 (0.075 pounds per cubic foot).

Here efficiency is mainly dependent on volume at its initial and final condition hence it is a volumetric efficiency.

Sohan said:   1 decade ago
Volumetric efficiency is always related to the volume of air admitted in a cylinder and not the volume of charge.

Swept volume is the ratio of cut off volume and clearance volume as the answer.

Cut off ratio is volume after combustion to volume before combustion.

Here ratio of volume so it is volumetric efficiency.

Volumetric efficient = Volume of air/Stock volume.
