IP means not input.
The input means energy supplied I.e; M * C.V (mass of fuel * calorific value)
So, it is not a Mechanical Efficiency it is overall efficiency.

It can be mechanical efficiency = BP/IP.
BP means power available at crankshaft i,e.(output).
IP means power developed within the cylinder i,e.(input).
BP means power available at crankshaft i,e.(output).
