It should increase as mep = Work done/Swept Volume.
As compression ratio is constant, swept volume is also constant.
Work done increases if cut off ratio decreases in a diesel engine due to the effective utilization of the power stroke in a diesel cycle.
So, correspondingly mep increases.

@Sohan.
Efficiency increases when cutoff ratio decreases not work done as the area under p-v dig decreases so work decreases.
So, w = (mep). swept vol as swept vol constant so mep decreases.

Cut off ratio is inversely proportional to efficiency and efficiency is inversely proportional to mean effective pressure (coz n=BP/IP).
Thus cut off ratio is directly proportional to mean effective pressure. Thus option B is correct.
Thus cut off ratio is directly proportional to mean effective pressure. Thus option B is correct.

With the decrease in the cut off ratio the work done obtained from the area under PV curve will decrease. Hence decrease in cut off ratio will decrease the mean effective pressure.

If cut of ratio decrease then it is good for a diesel engine, so absolutely (mep) increase. Because mep is a type of performance measuring parameter.

No @Sohan.
If cut off decrease than work done also decreases so MEP also decrease.
If cut off decrease than work done also decreases so MEP also decrease.
