Why because compression of the ratio of petrol engine is low compared to diesel that's why the thermal efficiency of petrol engine is less.

Because sfc for SI is 0.25kg and for CI is 0.20 kg.

Actually the answer is the thermal efficiency of Otto cycle is > than diesel cycle. As heat rejection in diesel engine is more so (Qs-Qr) /Qs by this formula it can be proved.
