Generally In diesel engine 13 degree after TDC.
And in petrol 9 degree before TDC.

Because of expansion starts after the combustion of fuel means after the top dead center.

In compression-ignition engine air must be compressed to high temperature as it is compressed the piston reaches to TDC which means high pressure and temperature obtained thus when the fuel enters it takes much time to mix with that air at very high pressure resulted to take more time and crank angle reaches 15° more after the TDC. So that expansion take place at 15° after tdc.
